It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Madge Shineton recently.

Madge not only represented Cleobury Mortimer on Shropshire Council but she was also our Bridgnorth District Cllr, Shropshire Cllr  and long serving Parish Cllr and Chairperson for Stottesdon and Sidbury Parish Council from 1976 until she retired in 2021.

Freda, our Clerk, will readily admit that she was very fortunate to have had Madge as a mentor in her early days.

Madge came to our Parish Council meetings right up until she retired. She loved the area and her local knowledge and experience was huge.

We will miss her greatly. RIP Madge.

Stottesdon Church Clock

A message from Clare Tibbits:

'work has commenced in the church tower to enable the reinstatement of the fourth (treble) bell which has been out of use for many months. On Tuesday July 16th the treble was lifted down and taken away to Taylor's Loughborough Bell Foundry for repairs. Whilst the bell is away there is more space than usual in the tower - meaning that thorough cleaning and maintenance  can be more easily and safely undertaken in the bell chamber.

This deep clean is likely to take until the end of July and so, until August there will be no bellringing for services and the clock chimes will be temporarily disconnected. The clock will continue to tell the time as usual, but it will not 'ring -out' hourly on the hour.
